Herbivore: The Magazine of Vegetarian Culture
"If Martha Stewart suddenly morphed into a tree-hugging Earth Goddess, chances are she'd probably whip up a batch of Goodbaker Gourmet's Magic Multigrain Muffins. Not only are these vegan muffins sweet and wholesome like Martha, they're also low in fat, and cholesterol-free. They turn out moist and very yummy, and if you sprinkle a little cinnamon- sugar on top, they smell extra-wonderful. Trust me, they're easy to prepare, which is always a good thing. You just toss in a bit of aqua and your choice of either some applesauce, yogurt, buttermilk, bananas or grated carrots, and you're done!"

Goodbaker serves up stealth health food
Lee Busch started Goodbaker, a Massachusetts-based producer of healthy gourmet baking mixes, because he's worried. "Americans are eating too much bad stuff and not enough good stuff" says Busch. "I want to help people eat better by offering them convenient, delicious and healthier versions of the treats they crave."
Developed with the assistance of nutritionists and a professional chef, Goodbaker baking mixes are made with organic whole-grain flours, unrefined sweeteners, and natural flavorings even the baking powder used contains no aluminum in keeping with Goodbaker's philosophy of "everything good and nothing bad." But Goodbaker's cookies, brownies, and other treats are truly gourmet you'll never miss the things that have been left out. Busch has spent years experimenting and finding wonderful organic substitutes for traditional ingredients in these recipes that taste great and are better for you.
And Goodbaker's treats are exceptionally easy to make. You only add water and oil, stir and bake the hardest part is waiting for the oven to preheat. It's a great family activity for parents and children, because the one-bowl process means there's very little mess, and you can even lick the bowl because the batters contain no raw eggs.
Nutritionally, Goodbaker treats are all lower in fat and higher in fiber than conventional recipes, great for anyone concerned about cholesterol or unhealthy saturated fats in their diet, and those who would like to get more fiber and soy protein with its many health benefits. If you are lactose intolerant, or following a vegetarian or vegan diet, you're in luck with Goodbaker, as all mixes contain no dairy, no eggs, and no animal products of any kind.
Goobaker's line of baking mixes includes Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie, Double-Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie, Fudge Brownie, Oatmeal Spice Cookie, Magic Muffin, and Scrumptious Scone. Mixes range in price from $5.99 to $6.99, and each makes a generous batch of baked treats. Goodbaker mixes are available exclusively online at www.goodbaker.com.

Goodbaker design wins national recognition
Goodbaker, a Massachusetts-based producer of healthy baking mixes, has been recognized as having one of the best new product logos of the year by American Corporate Identity, a leading annual review of American business design. The logo will be featured in the forthcoming American Corporate Identity, to be published by HBI/HarperCollins in October 2003.
The design's casual simplicity reflects the ideas behind Goodbaker: healthy treats, made with pure, organic ingredients, that are convenient and easy to prepare. The product line and logo were developed by Goodbaker founder Lee Busch, who describes himself as having "a huge sweet tooth."
After a bout with food poisoning left him unable to handle dairy products, Busch, a graphic designer, had to start baking without conventional ingredients. "I was a serious milk-and-cookie guy there was always a cookie jar next to my computer. But I found it impossible to live without all the great desserts I was accustomed to eating, so I began a crusade of research, self-education and experimentation to reproduce the things I loved in a form I could enjoy again."
Busch spent years experimenting and finding wonderful organic substitutes for traditional ingredients in these recipes that taste great and are better for you. The result is Goodbaker, a complete line of healthy gourmet baking mixes that are high in fiber, low in cholesterol, made without dairy or animal products, and which taste great you'll never miss the things left out.
